Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and Cesar Azpilicueta have been named in the provisional Spain squad ahead of the Confederations Cup.

The Chelsea trio were selected for Vicente del Bosque’s 26-man squad, which will be reduced to 23 players before the tournament begins on 15 June.

Torres has been rewarded for a strong end to the campaign, after scoring the opening goal in our Europa League final win over Benfica as well as the decisive strike in our final-day league win against Everton.

He ended the season with 22 goals in all competitions.

Mata, meanwhile, enjoyed a fantastic second season at Stamford Bridge, winning both the club’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Having moved to Stamford Bridge last August, Azpilicueta enjoyed a solid season, establishing himself as a regular in the side throughout the second half of the campaign.

The young right-back, who made his debut for Spain in February, scored his first Chelsea goal in last week’s 4-3 friendly defeat against Manchester City in the US.
