Jose Mourinho spoke to the media at Cobham ahead of tomorrow’s game at Aston Villa, ruling two of his defenders out of the clash, but providing more positive news surrounding the fitness of one of his strikers.
Both David Luiz and Ashley Cole missed our 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend through injury, and Mourinho will have to do without them once more at Villa Park.
‘We will have no David and no Ashley,’ he said, when asked on whether the duo would be available for the trip.
Fernando Torres, however, after injuring his hamstring in the warm-up last week, has made a significant improvement, and Mourinho must decide whether or not to take him to the Midlands or wait until Tuesday’s Champions League game against Galatasaray.
‘Maybe I’ll take him tomorrow,’ he said. ‘Maybe I won’t take him and I’ll try everything for Tuesday, but maybe I’ll take him tomorrow. It depends on today’s training and conversations after the session. Yesterday he looked okay.
‘The dedication to the recovery was great by him and the physios. He’s tried everything to recover, it was only a little thing but when you feel that little thing before a game you don’t play. If you feel it during the game maybe the adrenaline takes you through, but when you feel it in the warm-up before the game you don’t risk it.
‘I have to decide, maybe tomorrow, maybe Tuesday.’
