The Bundesliga side have the young Denmark international as their only target for the centre of defence, says sporting director Max Eberl as they return for pre-season
Borussia Monchengladbach are keen to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen on loan.
The 19-year-old has made three competitive appearances for the Blues since joining them from Brondby in 2012, including one in the Premier League, and has already progressed to the senior Denmark national team.
Chelsea have made extensive use of the loan system to develop their young players in recent years and the Bundesliga club hope to capitalise on that to boost their back line next season.
“We want to loan Christensen of Chelsea,” Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told reporters. “With this, our plans for central defence are concluded.”
The German side finished third in the Bundesliga last season and have already signed striker Josip Drmic from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
