The attacker has been granted permission to sit out Thursday’s session in order to resolve his future
Barcelona have confirmed that Pedro missed Thursday morning’s training session to complete his move to Chelsea.
The Spain international previously appeared to be on his way to Manchester United, but their unwillingness to match Barca’s €30 million asking price left the 28-year-old considering other options.
Chelsea then made a late bid to hijack United’s move for Pedro and he is now poised to continue his career at Stamford Bridge instead.
“Pedro Rodriguez, with the club’s permission, did not take part in Thursday’s training session in order to resolve his future,” Barcelona confirm on their official website.
The versatile attacker has made over 300 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona since making his first-team debut 2007-08, but the arrival of players such as Neymar and Luis Suarez in recent years saw him struggling for game time under Luis Enrique.
Pedro will be Chelsea’s fourth senior signing of the summer after the previous arrivals of Asmir Begovic, Radamel Falcao and Baba Rahman.
