?Chelsea have ?confirmed that they have officially agreed to terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old’s move is now subject to him agreeing personal terms with the club and successfully passing a medical.

After missing out on their first choice striker Romelu Lukaku, the Blues have moved quickly to secure the services of Morata and were finally rewarded for their efforts following a breakthrough in negotiations with the Spanish club.

The fee is expected to be in the region of £70m for the forward who had his most prolific La Liga season of his career, after scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances as Real Madrid went on to win the Champions League and domestic league double.

24-year-old Morata will now end his seven-year association with Real Madrid and re-unite with Antonio Conte who signed him whilst at Juventus in 2014, with a five-year deal expected to be signed by the Spanish forward.

Real Madrid released a statement on their ?website thanking Morata for his service at the club.

It read: “The club wishes to express its thanks for the dedication, professionalism and exemplary conduct displayed by the player over the years, spanning his time in our academy right through to his spell as a member of the first-team squad.”

The Spanish international is currently in the United States with Zinedine Zidane’s squad, but is expected to leave the Real Madrid camp imminently to finalise his move – with his medical expected to take place on Thursday.
