?Fernando Torres, Mateja Kezman, Hernan Crespo, Franco di Santo and Radamel Falcao all have one thing in common.

At Chelsea, these underwhelming, disappointing and just plain abject strikers all wore the number nine shirt, and now the Blues fans are now worried new record £60m signing Alvaro Morata may take the same shirt.

A number of fans on ?Twitter have taken to the internet to admit their hesitation at the Real Madrid star taking the number that has cursed the club in the past decade. As a series of previous strikers have struggled in front of goal while carrying the burden the pressured shirt gives, many have pointed to the Spanish international looking elsewhere.

Morata will be keen to prove his worth as a prolific marksmen after Manchester United chose Romelu Lukaku instead, allowing the 24-year-old to finally link up with Antonio Conte in a £60m transfer.

However, Blues fans will point to the fact that Chelsea coughed up £50m for another Spanish international who never lived up to the hype, as Torres never captured the kind of form at Stamford Bridge that made him one of the most lethal strikers in world football while at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, Morata is soon to be a Chelsea player once he finalises the transfer formalities and completes his medical.

Regardless of what number he winds up with, Morata promises to be an exciting signing for Chelsea, and potentially a lot less trouble for Antonio Conte than departing forward Diego Costa.
