Chelsea will want to continue in the same vein of late and will look to secure all three points against a Leicester side who have found it tough in their opening three fixtures.
This should be a high paced and high scoring encounter with both sides expecting to score. Here are three key battles that will determine the scoreline on Saturday…
1. Jamie Vardy vs David Luiz
Jamie Vardy seems back to his best this season. The England international caused Arsenal so many different problems on the opening day and has also been problematic for both Brighton and Manchester United’s defences.
Although David Luiz has been a top performer for Chelsea since his return from PSG, the Blues defender has been hidden between two very capable centre backs in Cahill and Azpilicueta. Vardy could pounce on Luiz’s untrustworthiness at the back and alongside new boy Antonio Rudiger Chelsea may find that Vardy will cause significant danger.
It will be a tough battle between the two world reknown talents, and will certainly be an exciting encounter on Saturday.
2. Cesc Fabregas vs Wildfred Ndidi
Wilfred Ndidi will have a large role to play for his team this weekend due to the majority of the game likely to be played inside the Leicester half. The Foxes midfielder’s job is to protect the back four and close down Cesc Fabregas in order to prevent perfectly calculated through balls which could cause the Leicester defence major problems.
Ndidi has played well this season thus far, however will need to play to an even greater standard to cope with Fabregas’ quality on the ball – which he has already shown this season.
It should be a fascinating duel if both Fabregas and Ndidi are on form. The Blues midfielder will look to play a killer through ball at any opportunity on Saturday, and will look to link up with the likes of Willian and Morata to breakdown the Leicester defence which has shown signs of weakness.
3. Riyad Mahrez vs Antonio Rudiger
Alike Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez once again looks in red hot form. The Algerian has already created 3 clear cut chances for his side this season and will look to cause Chelsea’s new signing, Antonio Rudiger, all sorts of difficulties in this fixture.
The Leicester winger will use all his skills and trickery to get the better of the ex-Roma man who has looked shaky at the start of his Chelsea career and looks uncomfortable on the left hand side of a back three.
It will be a huge occasion for both players, Rudiger will want to please the Chelsea fans and his manager and prove he is worthy of a starting spot and Mahrez will want to get back onside with the Leicester faithful after his deadline day antics.
