Ryan Bertrand has been called into the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland.
The 23-year-old was not one of the three Chelsea players originally chosen by Roy Hodgson but he has been added following the withdrawal of Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs due to injury.
Bertrand made his debut for England earlier this season as a substitute in a friendly against Italy. His first competitive appearance was last month, again coming on as a second-half substitute, this time in a 1-1 draw with Ukraine at Wembley.
He joins Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill in the latest England squad.
