Cesar Azpilicueta has been named by Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque in the squad for next week’s friendly international against Uruguay.
The right-back has previously represented his nation at the London Olympics and at Under-23 level, and he helped the Spain Under-21 and Under-19 sides win European Championships.
Del Bosque said of the selection: ‘Azpilicueta is playing many games for Chelsea. He has a lot of energy, defends well and is always willing to attack. We have a lot of hope for him.’
Juan Mata has also been selected for the game which takes place in Qatar on Wednesday. Fernando Torres is not in the squad.
