Victor Moses has urged his team-mates to push on and win the FA Cup after we booked our place in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough.
Moses scored our second, 17 minutes from time at the Riverside after Fernando Torres had broken the deadlock five minutes into the second half.
A clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford now looms, and Moses was simply delighted to have secured the victory.
‘It was a great win for us,’ he said. ‘Right from the start we wanted to get the game out of the way.
‘They were a good side, they had a few chances as well, but we managed to capitalise on the ones we had and win the game.
‘In the first half both sides had chances. We had our own but weren’t able to take them and we knew in the second half that if the chances came we’d have to take them.
‘It wasn’t an easy game and we’re delighted to come away with the victory.’
It’s now six goals for Moses in a Chelsea shirt, and it’s unlikely he will ever score a simpler one, and the winger was eager to praise Eden Hazard, whose excellent run allowed the Nigerian an easy finish.
‘It was great work from Hazard and Oscar, they’re both great players as we all know, it was a nice one-two to slip me in and it just needed a little touch from me to put the ball in the back of the net,’ said Moses.
‘Hazard’s a quality player, we see week-in, week-out what he can do, and playing alongside him can only help me.’
It was important to bounce back after the disappointment of Sunday’s defeat at Manchester City, and having fallen behind Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table, Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge has now taken on extra significance.
Moses remains confident we can overcome Steve Clarke’s side, but also acknowledged the importance of a successful FA Cup campaign.
‘We’ve got an important game coming up on Saturday, we’re looking forward to it but it’s not going to be an easy game, so we need to make sure we get three points,’ said the 21-year-old.
‘It will be important for us, we’ve already lost a few competitions this season, so this one would be massive for the club.’
