Chelsea will play Russian side Rubin Kazan in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The draw was made today (Friday) in Switzerland and with Chelsea’s name coming out first, we will play the first leg at Stamford Bridge. The games will be played on Thursday 4 April and Thursday 11 April.

Although the city of Kazan is 400 miles from Moscow, Rubin played their two previous home games in the knockout stage at the Lukhniki Stadium in the capital, having played their group matches in their own stadium. The venue for our away leg is yet to be confirmed.

The two clubs will meet for the first time. Former Chelsea reserve player Gokhan Tore is a member of the Rubin squad and has made two substitute appearances in the Europa League this season, both in the group stage.

The Russian side topped their group ahead of Internazionale and then knocked out two Spanish sides – Atletico Madrid and Levante. They are currently sixth in the Russian Premier League, the position in which they finished last season.

Unlike previous years, the Europa League semi-finals will be drawn after the quarter-finals have been played.

The full draw is:

Chelsea v Rubin Kazan
Tottenham v Basel
Fenerbahçe v Lazio
Benfica v Newcastle
