Under-21 squad right-back Todd Kane will spend the whole of next season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, the club where he played for part of last season.
The 19-year-old, who has been in the Chelsea Academy since Under-8s age group, moved to Ewood Park on a one-month loan in early January.
Rovers appointed a new permanent manager in Michael Appleton days later and Kane made three starts and one sub appearance in the Championship before returning to London.
He went on a second loan to Blackburn in mid-March with the caretaker manager when he first headed north in January, Gary Bowyer, then appointed as a full-time replacement for Appleton.
Kane impressed in his five appearances and the initial one month was extended until the end of the campaign. He featured in every league game remaining and played an important role in Blackburn preserving their Championship status.
He was captain of the Chelsea Under-21 side in the first half of last season during which he also spent a spell on loan to Preston North End.
He was part of our 2012 FA Youth Cup-winning side and scored in the 2011 national Reserve League play-off when we were crowned champions at that level. He is an England Under-19 international and in April signed a new contract which keeps him at Chelsea until 2016.
