FINAL WHISTLE VERDICT: PASSION AND PRIDE

Jose Mourinho was full of praise for the support the team enjoyed in Jakarta and satisfied with his team’s display following a big win.

Chelsea won the final match of our three-game tour of Asia by an 8-1 margin against the BNI Indonesia All-Stars, much appreciated by a full stadium for our first appearance in Indonesia

The manager was afforded cheers and songs as loud as for any player, even when he came into and left the post-match press conference, during which he said:

‘The good thing today was again a fantastic crowd with passion for football and Chelsea, and it is fantastic for us to see how big our club is becoming.

‘There was an important difference between the two teams as it was some of the best players in Europe against a less experienced team, so the result wasn’t the most important thing – but I am pleased with the attitude of my players. They were trying always to score goals and trying always to please the crowd.’

On the fitness of John Terry who played in every game and Frank Lampard who was not risked tonight…
‘Terry played well and trained very well and never missed one minute of any training session, and that is very important because we trained very hard for 15 days and some of the days for two sessions. Every 45 minutes he played, he played well and I am very happy with him.

‘Lampard is okay to train Monday so Monday he will join the group. We protect every little situation and today we protected Schurrle, we sent De Bruyne home but Lampard preferred to stay and have treatment here with the group.

‘Monday we are ready to have Lampard, Schurrle and De Bruyne working with the team, and with the six guys that arrive to train on Sunday who played in the Confederations Cup.’

On having his full squad to take to America next week…
‘I am sorry to lose the young boys who have been with us because the kids are good and for their evolution it has been good, and the ones that stay in the club and don’t go on loan will join our group many times, but it is important to have the other guys back.’

On whether Fernando Torres should be concerned about the form of Romelu Lukaku…
‘I think Torres should be happy because we have competition in the team in every position and that is good for everybody. Sometimes Torres has been the only striker and then Demba Ba came in January, and now we have three strikers and that is good for the team.’
