In the second part of his interview with Chelsea TV during the current international break, Jose Mourinho discussed the two players added to his first team squad in the days before the transfer window closed.

On Tuesday on the club’s own channel the manager gave his views on players who have departed for the season on loan. Those moves helped maintain a squad with the optimum balance and numbers for the season ahead, with Samuel Eto’o, a player Mourinho knows well from his time at Inter Milan, and Willian both added from Anzhi Makhachkala.

‘Samuel is a very experienced striker as everybody knows, and a winner,’ Mourinho told Chelsea TV.

‘He’s a guy who inspite of winning everything, he never lost his desire to win. He comes to England with the same objective with which I went to Spain – he wants to be the first one to win the Spanish, the Italian and the English league as a player, and he always wanted to play in the Premier League so he comes with big motivation.

‘He is different from Torres; Torres is different from Ba and Ba is different from Eto’o, so we have in these three strikers experience and different qualities.’

Turning his attention to Willian, Mourinho described the 25-year-old as a very fast, very dynamic footballer and one who can play in each of the three positions behind the striker.

‘Willian is a creative player and for his qualities, I think he needs a bit of time to express himself,’ he added.

‘Again he is a kid that wanted very much to play for Chelsea and he was too many years in Ukraine and in Russia and now he has his first chance to be in a big championship.’

The manager turned his attention back to players leaving on loan and Sam Hutchinson, the 24-year-old defender who on Monday switched to Vitesse Arnhem.

‘He needs that,’ stated Mourinho. ‘He had his debut very young in the very good team we had at that period but he had too many injuries and some of them big injuries that jeopardised his career at a certain point, so he needs to play and he needs to recover his condition of being a football player every weekend.

‘The Dutch championship and Vitesse can give him that stability and football without the same aggression and intensity that we have in England, so hopefully everything goes well for Sam.’

On squad balance, Mourinho said: ‘We have that. We two players per position with three strikers and one extra midfield player. Every position is covered and we are very happy with what we have.’
