Nathaniel Chalobah has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until 15 January.
The 18-year-old central-defender or midfielder, who recently signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea, heads out on loan for the second time, having enjoyed a successful spell with Watford last season.
While at Vicarage Road, under the guidance of Gianfranco Zola, Chalobah played a pivotal role as Watford reached the play-off final at Wembley, eventually losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
In what was an important period in the youngster’s development, he played 42 first team matches and scored some notable goals, including an outstanding strike away at Leicester City. He wasnamed the Football League’s Young Player of the Month for April.
His new loan club, Forest, are currently fifth in the Championship table and are managed by Billy Davies.
At Chelsea, Chalobah captained our FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2011/12. He is a regular for England Under-21s and was in the squad which took part in this summer’s European Championships. He has 10 Under-21 caps to his name.
He was also part of the Chelsea first team squad which travelled to Asia for our most recent Here to Play, Here to Stay Tour, taking part in all three matches with Jose Mourinho forecasting a bright future for the young player at the club after one more season gaining experience on loan.
