Jose Mourinho and Mark Schwarzer spoke exclusively to Chelsea TV in the wake of our 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Sunderland, with the duo understandably frustrated.
Mourinho was eager to pay tribute to the travelling Chelsea supporters for their backing.
‘The fans were fantastic, they travelled in the Christmas period, a long way up north and it’s very cold,’ said the Portuguese.
‘Even the Sunderland supporters didn’t come 100 per cent but ours were fantastic.’
Schwarzer, meanwhile, felt we paid the price for not adding to our lead.
‘If we got the second goal I think the game would have been killed off pretty quickly but unfortunately we didn’t and you leave yourself open to potentially conceding,’ said the Blues goalkeeper.
