BAMFORD SET FOR DERBY LOAN MOVE

Patrick Bamford will join Derby County on loan next Monday (6 January) for the remainder of the season.

Bamford, 20, has spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at MK Dons, where his deal expires on Sunday 5 January.

In his third loan spell at the club, Bamford has produced a string of impressive displays and emerged as one of the most lethal strikers in League One, scoring 16 goals in 29 appearances for Karl Robinson’s side.

His performances in the early part of the season earned him the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award for October. He was also rewarded for his form with a first call-up to the England Under-21 squad, making his debut as a substitute in a 9-0 win against San Marino in November.

Bamford’s most recent goal for MK Dons came in their 2-0 win at Crawley on Boxing Day.

The move to Derby, who are currently fourth in the table, will be his first experience in the Championship and he will work under the guidance of manager Steve McClaren.

Bamford joined Chelsea in January 2012 from Nottingham Forest, where he made two senior competitive appearances and impressed with his goalscoring form in the FA Youth Cup.
