Youngsters from Bangkok enjoyed a day to remember on Sunday as the Chelsea Soccer School Thailand staged an Invitational Football Tournament.
Working in partnership with the Singapore International School Bangkok, the invitational football tournament for under-11s saw seven schools invited to play along with a team from the Chelsea Soccer School in Bangkok.
Staged at our Soccer School facility in the city and designed to further build long-term relationships in the region, the eight teams were split into two leagues of four before a play-offs to determine the overall placings.
Trinity International School were the eventual winners; 2-0 on penalties after the final against Satit Ramkhamhang ended 2-2.
Winning coach Mr Angel said: ‘This tournament has been a great opportunity for players to make friends while trying to improve their skills.
‘This is the best yearly tournament around. Thank you from all at Trinity School, it has been a real positive experience.’
The CFCSS TH started its school lessons in October 2013 and is open to boys and girls of all abilities aged 6 to 14, with the aim for young footballers in Thailand to learn to play football the Chelsea way.
Participants are given the opportunity to learn and play the game within a fun, safe and friendly environment, developing their technical ability under the guidance of Chelsea FC certified coaches who are always on hand to inspire, encourage and share their passion for the beautiful game.
The Chelsea Foundation’s senior international development manager Dave Monk believes events such as Sunday’s tournament are the perfect way to foster relationships and ensure the Soccer School is a major success.
He said: ‘The most important aspect of our Soccer School program is to engage the wider community in each location. We achieve this by building long-term relationships within local and international schools.
‘Any opportunity we have to share our expertise to support and develop football we cherish, especially when it has a positive impact for the younger generation.
‘This tournament will provide the platform for the school teams to showcase their talent at our wonderful facility here in Bangkok. To ensure this tournament has a lasting legacy we will also include a full day grassroots coaching seminar for all the PE teachers associated to the invited school teams.’
