SCHURRLE: WE WANT NIGHTS LIKE THESE

Andre Schurrle, speaking on the eve of our second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, is anticipating a night when all the players and the Stamford Bridge crowd give maximum effort to the quest to win the quarter-final.

A two-goal deficit must be overcome but with the team fresh from a 3-0 league win at weekend and with plenty of other success on our home turf, both this season and on many other occasions too for some of them, confidence in the camp is high reports the German international.

‘We know it is very difficult to win this tie but we are very confident and we play at home,’ said Schurrle.

‘We’ve had a lot of good matches here and we are very motivated. We are looking forward to the match. Of course we need a big performance and every player needs to take responsibility and bring his best performance to the pitch, but I am very confident that every player has this.

‘We need the supporters and they were always there when we have needed them in the season, and I am sure they are going to give everything like we will. We will have a good atmosphere and we are going to give everything on the night.’

Jose Mourinho said he wants everyone concerned with Chelsea to enjoy such a match and Schurrle is fully intending to do so.

‘Of course every player wants to have these big nights in the Champions League. Maybe you are nervous before the match but when it begins and you have the ball and you are in the action you are not nervous any more, and you are looking forward to the play and having fun like this.’

Schurrle reported he is fully fit to take part despite his early end to the Stoke game following a challenge from Charlie Adam.

‘I know the Premier League is hard and players tackle hard, and I have no problems. My ankle is good and my foot is good. ‘
