Tomas Kalas is handed his second start, following on from his impressive showing at Anfield in the last away game and will again partner Branislav Ivanovic in central defence with Ashley Cole and Cesar Azpilicueta the full-backs. Cole is captain.

John Mikel Obi and Nemanja Matic play in central midfield and Oscar returns to the side with Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard the wide players. Fernando Torres leads the attack.

John Swift, the 18-year-old midfielder who has scored 18 goals for our Under-21 and Under-19 sides this season, is on the bench.

For Cardiff, Craig Bellamy returns to their attack with Mats Moller Daehli also coming in in place of Wilfred Zaha and Kim Bo-Kyung.
