Anderlecht’s director of sport has claimed the 20-year-old could move to Serie A despite interest from Newcastle
Anderlecht director of sport Herman Van Holsbeeck has revealed that Italy is a potential destination for in-demand striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has been linked with Chelsea and Newcastle United.
Mitrovic’s agent was quoted on Friday as saying his client’s move to Newcastle would be finalised in “the coming hours”, but Roma also remain a contender to sign the Serbia international.
And Van Holsbeeck insists that Mitrovic’s future is far from decided, with Portuguese duo Benfica and Porto also interested in his signature.
“We are talking to different clubs,” Van Holsbeeck told Calciomercato.it.
“Will his future be in Italy? I cannot name names, but we are very busy.”
Mitrovic – capped 13 times by the national team – scored 28 goals in 51 games in all competitions last season.
