The Spaniard says that Everton will not entertain bids for their centre-back, who has been linked with the Blues and both Manchester teams, insisting that he is at the right club
Everton will not sell Chelsea target John Stones, according to manager Roberto Martinez.
The England international has become the subject of major interest from the Blues, Manchester City and Manchester United, with rumours of a £30 million move to Stamford Bridge not far off.
Jose Mourinho did admit on Saturday that the Premier League champions were being priced out of a move for the 21-year-old after failing with a £28m bid in July.
And Martinez says that he is looking to build a side around Stones, issuing a hands-off warning to any interested parties.
He told reporters on Sunday: “You’re going to get clubs that are working with big budgets because they have been working in the Champions League but we are a club with nine league titles and you’ve seen today we celebrated a special memory [at Duncan Ferguson’s testimonial].
“We are a big club. What we want is to build and what we want to do is concentrate on the future and we are not a selling club by any means. The situation with John is as you would expect.
“He is one of the most talented centre-backs in European football and we feel we have a special footballer with us.
“There is nothing to discuss and teams putting bids in for him doesn’t mean anything.”
Stones took part in Ferguson’s testimonial at Goodison Park as the Toffees fell to a 2-1 defeat to Villarreal.
