Diego Costa’s Transfer to Atletico Madrid Edges Closer Following Chelsea’s Morata Deal

?After falling well and truly out of Antoni Conte’s plans at Chelsea, Diego Costa has seemingly been pining for a move back to Atletico Madrid this summer and reports are suggesting his transfer is moving closer – albeit slowly.

As the Spanish giants are currently under a transfer ban which would prevent Costa from being available for selection until January, the club have no reason to panic but following the arrival of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea there is now a green light to move forward with a deal.

The next step would be for the directors of both clubs to meet in order to thrash out a deal for the 28-year-old – who scored 22 goals for the Blues last term, according to ?Marca.

Diego Simeone has identified Costa as a priority signing this summer following the recent signing of Vitolo, who was subsequently sent on-loan to Las Palmas until January.

Following Conte’s text message informing the Brazilian born striker that he was no longer required at Stamford Bridge, Costa has taken every opportunity to express his desires to return to the Atletico as he made his intentions clear on social media when he live ?streamed on Instagram wearing an Atletico kit.

It is understood that Costa is prepared to sit out of first-team action until January to make the move happen, as he is not keen on going out on loan to another club in the mean time.

The 28-year-old played over 100 games for the Spanish giants, scoring over 50 goals during his combined six-year association with the club.
