Picking the Best Potential Chelsea Lineup to Face Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday

Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea host Fulham in one of two London derbies taking place on Sunday, looking to avenge their defeat to Tottenham on match day 13.

The 3-1 defeat at Wembley halted the Blues’ unbeaten start to the season and left them seven points behind leaders Manchester City.

Eden Hazard is set to return at Stamford Bridge after missing Thursday’s Europa League win over PAOK, while Olivier Giroud is pushing for a start following his recent goalscoring run.

Here’s the potential lineup.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK) – Ever-present between the sticks, the Spaniard will be seeking a seventh shut-out this term.

César Azpilicueta (RB) – Deployed as a right back under Sarri, Azpilicueta’s attacking ability is arguably as good as his defensive work.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) – An aerial threat in box boxes, the former Roma defender will go to-toe-to with danger man Aleksander Mitrovic.

David Luiz (CB) – His alarming performance at Tottenham has raised questions over the Brazilian’s number one spot, with Andreas Christensen lurking in reserve.

Marcos Alonso (LB) – The Chelsea left back has been sensational this campaign with three assists to his name already.

2. Midfielders

Mateo Kovacic (CM) – The on-loan Real Madrid midfielder is expected to be given a run out after not featuring in midweek.

N’Golo Kanté (CM) – Undoubtedly one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, the former Leicester star has played an advanced attacking role this season – provoking debate over his most effective position.

Jorginho (CM) – The Brazilian’s passing range in the centre of the park could be vital to unlocking Fulham’s back line.

3. Forwards

Pedro (RW) – Has an impressive record this term with four goals in 11 league appearances – five of those appearances coming from the bench.

Alvaro Morata (ST) – Scorer in midweek, Morata’s confidence in front of goal would have been dealt a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s clash as he looks to keep his place ahead of fellow frontman Giroud.

Eden Hazard (LW) – Chelsea’s star man looked certain to join Madrid in the summer and has been integral to the blues campaign this season, with seven goals and four assists in 12 outings.
