Philippe Coutinho’s agent has claimed there has been no contact with Chelsea or any other club amid speculation suggesting the Brazil international will leave Barcelona in the near future.
The midfielder joined Barça in January 2018 following some sparkling performances with Liverpool but has so far failed to make much of an impact at Camp Nou, being sent out on loan to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich this season.
The Bavarian side look unlikely to make that deal permanent and Chelsea have been mentioned as a potential destination for the 27-year-old, but Kia Joorabchian has now revealed there have been no discussions with any prospective buyers.
He told talkSPORT: “Philippe at the moment, he’s at Bayern, but he’s sidelined at the moment.
“He’s had an injury, he had an operation two weeks ago on his ankle and he is six weeks for recovery for that, which unfortunately means he’ll probably miss a chunk of the Bundesliga. Hopefully he’ll be fit for the tail end of the season.
“But in terms of the rumours? At the moment we have not spoken to anybody about any deals whatsoever.
“I think at the moment everyone’s concentration is on this pandemic and how football can restart in a safe and secure environment, and the health of safety of everybody.
“The transfer side of things and where Philippe will go, or where other players will go, will come into play further down the line when things have got back to some sort of normality.”
As 90min revealed back in April, Liverpool still have first refusal on the former Inter star, though Jurgen Klopp’s side are unlikely to utilise that option, as they aren’t currently in favour of big money marquee signings.
Barcelona remain interested in just about every footballer on the planet, though Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez has been most heavily linked as a potential successor to Luis Suarez in Catalonia.
