Remember when Chelsea didn’t have a burning money hole in their pockets? No, we at 90min don’t either.

Incredibly, it’s almost two decades since Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich took control of the club, wrestling a majority shareholding from the gleaming white beard of Ken Bates. In that time, the Blues have become a powerhouse force domestically and on the European stage, filling their ever-expanding trophy cabinet with plenty of goodies.

To get Chelsea where they wanted to be, a revolution was needed when Abramovich arrived – one that involved writing a number of cheques that had more digits on it than Pythagoras’ theory.
