Chelsea v Bristol City recent head-to-head record
Chelsea have a brilliant track record against our opponents having won 11 of our past 12 league matches against the Robins, netting 49 goals in the process. We have also kept eight clean sheets from nine previous away trips to Bristol City in the Women’s Super League.
We met earlier this season in what was our first home game of the current campaign. League history was made that day as we thumped the Robins 9-0 with nine different goalscorers, the highest number in a single match.
Fran Kirby opened the scoring inside the first quarter of an hour, and Maren Mjelde doubled our lead from the penalty spot, sparking a run of four goals in nine minutes. Leupolz registered her first Chelsea goal with a diving header and she was soon joined by Erin Cuthbert and Millie Bright. Cuthbert’s effort flew in from range and Bright powerfully headed home a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
Bethany England scored her first goal of 2020/21 when she turned home a rebound and then substitutes Niamh Charles and Harder finished smartly to join Leupolz in scoring their maiden goals for the Blues. Kerr completed the scoring when she confidently placed her shot beyond the keeper.
The match before that came in January 2020 when we beat them 6-1 at Kingsmeadow. England and Ji So-Yun netted a brace while Hannah Blundell and Jess Carter also found their names on the scoresheet. The away match of last season ended in a 4-0 win. Reiten scored two goals, Ji found the net and Ingle netted her first-ever Chelsea goal.
The Blues have good memories away to Bristol as we clinched our second Women’s Super League title in the 2017/18 season with a comfortable 2-0 win over the Robins.
