Table-topping Tuchel wins October’s managerial award

As well as keeping more clean sheets and conceding fewer goals than any other side in the league, Tuchel’s men also registered a joint-high 14 goals scored in the month and our underlying numbers in terms of attacking proficiency, defensive reliability and game control all point to a team in top form.

However, the victories were not all straightforward, with the players having to battle for all three points away at Brentford and wait until the final six minutes before sealing a win against Southampton at the start of the month.

Triumphs over Norwich City and Newcastle United, with an aggregate score of 10-0, were more routine but owed much to the goals being shared throughout the side.
