Bakayoko returns to Italy on loan

The midfielder returns to the San Siro for a second spell with Milan until 2023, having previously represented the club during the 2018/19 campaign, and knows the league well after also spending last season at Napoli.

In Italy, Bakayoko will be a team-mate of former Blues Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud, who both joined the Rossoneri permanently this summer, and will compete in the Champions League after Stefano Pioli’s side finished in second place last season, being drawn in the same group as Liverpool.

During his previous spell at Milan, Bakayoko was a regular in Gennaro Gattuso’s side as they reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and reached the same stage under the same manager at Napoli in 2020/21, following a year back in France with Monaco.
